Chasing Butterflies

by Dominique Fricot and Fedbo

/

lyrics

Must have been the middle of the summer
Long before we both cut ties
Climbing through our windows
Chasing butterflies
Night was slowly turning into morning
On a blanket by the waterside
Everything worth saying
You told me with your eyes

The more I reminisce
The more I start to miss

Visiting the parents for the weekend
You took me where you used to camp
I Watched you light a fire
With the end of your cigarette
Only found out later you went walking
While I slept by your side
Torturing yourself
Erasing butterflies

The more I focus in
The more they start to spin
But as little as it meant
You know I’d try again

The winter after we’d stopped talking
You called me from your favourite dive
Someone flipped a coin
For who’d drink and who would drive
As you fumbled through your purse for the keys
And said it’d be “just for the night”
I whispered to myself
What a waste of butterflies
